“My work explores the beauty and complexity of the human journey, with a focused lens on the African American experience. Each piece reflects identity, resilience, and cultural memory drawn from both personal history and collective stories.

Inspired by my lifelong love of music and the cultural legacy of New Orleans, I create paintings that form a visual dialogue between past and present. My goal is to create work that invites reflection, emotional connection, and a deeper understanding of the stories that shape us.”

O’Bannon’s art has been featured in venues, such as the African American Museum, and exhibited at galleries and festivals across the US. Notable events include the New Orleans Jazz Festival, Art Basel, The Other Art Fair, and Harlem Fine Arts Show.

O’Bannon is a self-taught artist whose primary medium is oil on canvas. His work delves deeply into the African American experience, capturing its historical richness as well as its contemporary relevance.
